Review: Find It Series

Find It Series  by Highlights from Timberdoodle’s Tiny Tots Kit is a set of 4 puzzle books. Each page has 3 items that go with the theme for your child to find. What I found really neat is that the things you need to find are raised up a little bit from the page, so you can rub your finger along the page and feel the outline of what you are spotting. This is perfect for little ones. Not only will they get to see the items but also feel the book and get those motor skills goes. Since there are 4 books to this series you can rotate them and keep it interesting for younger kids. My daughter had a blast with these books. She was easily able to find each item in the books. Her favorite was the bedtime book; she said because it’s purple. Since they are not to big we’ll be able to take them on the go in case we go somewhere that our daughter would get bored. I like to keep them out when I do school with our oldest so that our youngest has something fun to look at and play with while no

Tips & Tricks: Field Trip Fun

We have found an amazing homeschool group in our area that does field trips at least 1-2 times a month and weekly play dates. Thanks to our group we’ve gone to the zoo, Sea Center Texas and strawberry picking so far. I am even scheduling a new field trip to the local equestrian center so all the kiddos can learn first hand how a barn operates and the care that goes into having horses. If you’re in a homeschool group, a good way to save money is buddy up with people who have memberships to where y’all are going. When we went to the zoo another mom got us in for free with her membership. Field trips don’t just have to be going to a place to learn about what they do. Homeschooling on the road can a mini field trip itself. Finishing up our first week of homeschooling this year we were actually at the beach. After completing school for the day our daughter got to go down to the shore for fishing, ocean views and sand castle building. Some fun field trip ideas are: Zoo B

Tips & Tricks: Back-To-School

It’s back-to-school for most of the kiddos in our area so I thought it would be good idea to let y’all know what we do for back-to-school. We actually school year round with each school year starting the first Monday of January. I have made some traditions because when I went to school I would get myself up, get myself breakfast and then head off to school. Even though I loved school getting myself ready and sending myself off wasn’t fun or exciting. We start off the first day of school with a big breakfast. I make a fritata, which is basically an open-faced omelet, adding in all of our daughter’s favorites. Green onions, spinach, tomatoes, bacon, cheese, cheese and some more cheese. Along with a big cup of chocolate milk. While she is still eating I set up all the items we’ll be using that day during school. For our curriculum we use Timberdoodle Co. Once breakfast and teeth brushing are done our daughter gets to choose what she would like to wear that day. PJs or regular
