We got At Night Scratch Cards since we have liked all the other Djeco art kits we have used before. I got it with my Timberdoodle points. This kit has 4 cards, a manual and a scratching stick. Now, I thought that these cards were like the previous ones where you scratch and it reveals a picture. Sadly, that was not the case so our first go turned out pretty awful. It turns out that you need to scratch the cards in a design that you like. The manual goes through what parts you need to scratch for the design. However, I let our daughter scratch wherever and whatever to make her own designs. That way she can be as creative as she likes. I do enjoy things where she can use her own ideas and personality. It makes each art piece completely unique.
The cards do have a very pretty starter design. There is an owl, cat, fox and butterfly. Like with the other Djeco kits I wish there was more projects to do. Something that is very cool about this art kit is that the cards glow in the dark. I did not expect the cards to flow very well because most glow in the dark things are quite disappointing to be honest. However, this kit proves the exception. These cards glow so nicely and super bright. I was very surprised and impressed. Even though our daughter likes everything to do with art including this kit I was not particularly fond of this one. I am not quite sure why I do not like it. When you scratch the cards it sounds like writing ona chalkboard which I can not stand. I also wish that the cards revealed a picture like some of the other Djeco art kits do. These are pretty minor issues. Even though I have problems with this kit I would say it is a good kit to start with.
However, if you do not mind the sound and want a lot where your child can be as creative as they want then this kit would be perfect for you. If you are looking for a new art kit for your child this one may be just the ticket. Moreover, I would suggest a lot of the Djeco kits over this one. Djeco has lots and lots of other art kits. They have pompom, glitter, sticker kits and more. Timberdoodle has a lot of those kits and many others. It is where we get all out homeschool curriculum and the majority of our art kits. Each year I like to have a bunch of art kits to do throughout the year. There is a Djeco kit I have been wanting to try out. It uses glitter and I am hoping that we get it for next school year. I do not think you can every have enough art kits or things where the child can be creative.
