Puzzles are fun for everyone from kids to adults. We got these cute animals puzzles called On-The-Go Puzzles Halves Faces. There are 8 different animal puzzles altogether. They are a great size for babies to hold so they will be a great tool to help with hand and eye coordination. The puzzles are done in a very simple jigsaw style with 1 notch for the child to put together. I think this better than the baby puzzles that just have flat sides because then the child actually gets to put something together. They will get a sense of accomplishment and it helps develop much needed skills. Now the box says it is for ages 15 months and up my daughter is 21 months and she does not quite get the concept yet that she has to pick up one of the piece to fit them together. Right now she just tries to slide them and push them together. She does get very frustrated that she can not put them together. She also does not realize that one piece is supposed to go with a specific piece. Our oldest did not get how to put jigsaw puzzles together when she was this age either so I am not worried about it.
I like items that I can use use for multiple things so I came up with ways you can use these puzzles for other things. You could have your child say what animal they are making, the sound the animal makes, where the animal live and what the animal eats. That way they are also learning about different animals. Since our youngest does not get the putting them together right now I have her tell me what animal it is. Or since she has started to pick up on colors I ask her what the colors are or have her find the colors herself. Another thing I like about these on-the-go puzzles is that they are not sharp. They have nice rounded edges so baby can not get hurt when they grab the pieces. A downside would be that they say on-the-go but I do not really see these as a car item unless you have one of those car desk things.
I think though if you wanted you could put them in your bag and let your child play with them at the doctors or something. So the positives I have found are these are cute, a great size, colorful and fun. Negatives; I do not really think these would make a good on-the-go game. I am always on the look out for cute fun items to add to our school collection. What do you have?
Those look like lots of fun. I'm thinking my grandbabies would love this activity!
