I like to read a lot of books to the girls. Especially, when kids are young I think it is important to have them listen to lots and lots books. Even if your kids are playing you can read aloud to then. That way they get to hear a ton of different stories and it is good for bonding with them. When our oldest was young I would read my books aloud because she would not understand what was going on anyway. We recently got this new book for our youngest daughter. It is called Pat-a-Cat First Nursery Rhymes and it has a whole bunch of rhymes. 24 to be exact. What is so cool about this book of nursery rhymes is that each rhyme has instructions on actions you can do while you read them. So, your baby can get active while you sing/read since they will probably want to copy you if they are old enough to do so. Our daughter is very into songs. Her favorite is Row, Row, Row Your Boat which is not in this book but she will sing it on her own. I am sure if we sing these enough she will start singing these songs as well. Of course if our oldest does them our youngest will do them as well.
Some of these rhymes have you place your child on your lap and you bounce them or wobble them around. Our daughter loves this! I normally do this to keep her entertained while we are at gymnastics so now I incorporate the nursery rhymes. Other rhymes have little movements like wiggling your finger, clapping your hands or shaking your head. I love that it is little movements so that a young child can do them, too. Another great plus to this book which you may already know what I am going to say if you have read our previous reviews. This is a board book! I love board books for babies because they can not be easily torn apart like paper books. Since our daughter is a book tearer I prefer to only get board books for her. Another thing I like about Pat-a-Cake is that there were some nursery rhythms that both my husband and I had not heard of yet. It is always nice to read something new since a lot of baby books you have probably already read before or heard of before.
I would definitely go check out this book. It is super cute, the drawings are all babies, it is interactive and a lot of fun for little ones. Our youngest is 21 months old now and loves doing songs so she loves when we get this book out. We got this book of nursery rhymes from Timberdoodle. It also comes with their Tiny Tots curriculum kit which I suggest even if you do not plan to homeschool. It would great to have for a day care, too. What cute books do you have for your little ones? Also featured in these photos are Play Together Caterpillar and Lil Dimpl.
I've always loved reading nursery rhymes to my little ones, and those cute illustrations look adorable.
