If you or your kids want to get into the world of coding then this little kit is just the thing for you. Let's Start Coding Base Kit has everything you will need except a computer. They will even get a little bracelet with the companies website on it. There are card that tell about each component in the kit. I did straighten out a lot of our components because the prongs were bent but then later found out that they are meant to bendable. There are 56 projects that you can do with the this kit and 4 setup videos to watch. I love how hands-on this kit is. Your child gets to place LED lights and a speaker while coding the Maker Board. I think it is super cool that this kit uses the same coding language that NASA does. The thing I like best is that their are step-by-step videos so you know exactly what you need to do so no prior experience is needed in order to complete this awesome kit. Your child will learn how edit, compile and execute code.
I have shown our daughter before about when you mess up on coding and gave her a little insight to coding so she was really excited to start this kit. We started with the setup videos and made sure to follow the instructions on how to place the components in properly. I do highly suggest that you wear sunglasses when using this coding kit. The LED lights are super bright. They are way brighter than I thought they would be and they really hurt my eyes. Each little project will tell you exact which component to put where and then you upload the code and the lights and sounds will start. There is one where the code it write to where the board tells the computer to type something. We changed ours to say different things. Our daughter thought it was so cool and funny with the different things we typed in.
It was difficult for our daughter to put some of the components into the board but she just had to keep trying until she got it. Our youngest was in awe of the different lights and sound effects when we did the different projects. I would definitely get this if you want a start coding kit for you or your kids. It was really fun to do especially when we got to change the code. I did place the components in the wrong spot once so our daughter got to see what happens if you mess up with with placement or code. It seems to have made her more curious about how things like computers work and it was a great project for her to do with Daddy. Do you have anything like this? Let us know in the comment section below.
Our son has really enjoyed working with this kit. It is neat to be able to change the coding and see what happens with the lights and speaker.
